Sound and Music Computing Conference (SMC09) na Casa da Música
23 a 25 de Julho de 2009
A 6 ª edição do SMC 09 terá lugar na Casa da Música, Porto, Portugal, entre 23 e 25 de Julho de 2009.
SMC 2009 is the 6th Sound and Music Computing Conference. After previous editions in Paris, Salerno, Marseille, Lefkada and Berlin, it will be held between 23 and 25 July 2009 at the Casa da Música in Porto, Portugal.
SMC is a privileged forum in Europe for the promotion of international exchanges around Sound and Music Computing. The 2009 edition is organised by the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering of Porto (INESC Porto), the Research Center for Science and Technology in Art (CITAR) of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto, the School of Music and Performing Arts (ESMAE), Porto's Concert Hall: the Casa da Música, and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto.

MedeaElectronique media lab residencies -
Koumaria2009 – international open call
MedeaElectronique (www.medeaelectronique.com) is a cooperate group of individual artists that share a predisposition for innovation in performing arts. Working in fields like music, video, design, painting, multimedia, robotics, interactive technology and media production, we allow the integration of our distinctive areas of research and practice to define a unique style in the realization of various projects – from multimedia theatrical plays to experimental audio-visual shows and from electroacoustic compositions to human-machine-computer interfaces. MedeaElectronique also co-organises Electromedia Works, an annual multimedia festival (www.emw.gr).
Between the 23rd and 31st of October, 2009
MedeaElectronique organizes Koumaria fall residency offering a week’s retreat for media artists in rural Sparta, Greece.
We are looking for practitioners active in such diverse fields as: Electroacoustics, sonic art, live electronics, field recording, instrumental improvisation, performance art, VJing, video art, creative computer programming, creative hardware modification, plastic arts, conceptual art, drama, philosophy and semiotics. The list is non exhaustive and we will be happy to consider any interesting proposal.
The ideal participants would have interdisciplinary interests and a strong creative drive. They would be happy to share and embrace ideas, techniques, material, time and energy. They would need good social and communication skills, as well as the ability to function in a wide range of situations. A respect to the craft and the powers of improvisation will be also greatly appreciated.

Residência artística Music Omi International - verão de 2008
Estão abertas as inscrições para o programa de residências artísticas Music Omi International para o verão de 2008. A residência, que terá lugar entre 24 de Julho e 10 de Agosto de 2008, culminará com um concerto no dia 11 de Agosto na cidade de Nova Yorque. Instrumentistas, compositores e artistas trabalhando na área do som que desejem participar neste projecto deverão enviar a sua candidatura até ao dia 1 de Fevereiro de 2008.
A organização providenciará o alojamento e alimentação dos participantes ficando a viagem a cargo dos mesmos. Não existe taxa de inscrição. A orientadora deste encontro será a compositora e sound designer: Katie Down.
