Luc Ferrari competition
Every other year, La Muse en Circuit organizes an international competition of radio music composition open to young artists, in partnership with the Archipel Festival, the SACEM, Radio France, and foreign radio stations (Radio Suisse Romande / Espace 2, Deutschland RadioKultur).
The 8th biennial competition created by Luc Ferrari is inspired by a piece from his work, Madame de Shanguai for a flute trio and pre-recorded track.
Both a way of paying tribute to Mr. Ferrari as well as a means of stimulating the imagination of composers, the current competition asks participants to write a piece that develops the principal of the Horspiel.
The entries should resemble mixed music but without any interaction other than the synchronization of an instrument with stereophonic or 5.1 support. The instrumental score will be able to be amplified and transformed except for computerized real time processing. The final piece, with a maximum duration of 15 minutes, will be performed in concert.
The winning entries as well as the piece written by Luc Ferrari will be featured on disc as well as in concerts associated with the competition.
We hope that this tradition of honoring Mr. Ferrari will be stimulating and likely to give rise to new talents and not just epigones.
You will thus find attached the application form. We hope that it will be possible for you to leave them at disposal of musicians. You can also contact us by email to have more informations :

Carlo Rustichelli award - Competition for Writers, directors, and musicians
Writers, directors, and cinematographic musicians can participate in the first edition of the Award that involves the creation of an original short film of five minutes with the direct involvement of the winning artists from the different sections, produced by the Award sponsors. On the final evening a highly prestigious panel of judges will award the winners: the judges include Mario Monicelli, Ennio Morricone, Pippo Baudo, Riccardo Giagni, Simone Annicchiarico, Luca Bandirali, Susanna Buffa and Carlo Guaitoli.
Writers must submit an unpublished cinematographic subject for the five minute film. The directors will be assessed by sending a DVD recording of a short film already realized by them (of not more than 10 minutes in length). Next, the writer and director selected by the panels will realize the short film in the Carpi area from 15 to 22 March 2008 at the expense of the producers. The composers that have entered for the Award will receive the short film produced on a DVD, for which they must compose a soundtrack.
Musicians entering for the CARLO RUSTICHELLI AWARD must compose an original unpublished soundtrack for the short film of five minutes realized in Carpi from 15 to 22 March 2008.
The short films returned complete with soundtrack and notes will be assessed to create a classification, with the top three admitted to the final evening, scheduled for 4 June 2008. After the screening of each one, the Award Panel Of Judges will choose the best suited soundtrack and will award the CARLO RUSTICHELLI AWARD to the best writer, director, and composer.
