2ª edition // Commissioner: João Esteves da Silva

After a successful first edition last March, the Young Improvisers Cycle is back with two more concerts, preserving the intentions that motivated its creation: providing a privileged space for listening to some of the newest musical adventures of new values dedicated to the most varied practices of improvisation (or composition in real time) without definite stylistic borders. Once again, we sought to invite versatile musicians with backgrounds as diverse as, among others, contemporary erudite music, jazz or metal, and open to creative risk.

The opening will be in charge of a quartet created especially for the occasion: two wind instruments, João Silva (trumpet) and Philippe Trovão (saxophone), André Hencleeday (piano) and João Valinho (drums), four emerging talents whose sensitivity should be evident in the immersive music that will be brought to stage, acoustic and totally improvised, and marked by the use of various extended techniques.

Then it will be the turn of 'Kairos', newly created project of saxophonist and composer Francisco Andrade, already one of the most solid names of the national scene, accompanied by Vasco Pimentel (piano and synthesizer), João Sousa (drums), Philippe Trovão (in this case in charge of electronics) and Mariana Nunes (voice), from whom is expected a path of strong contrasts, in which intense grooves, repetitive patterns and a certain experimentalism will surely organically coexist.
