Igor C. Silva in residency at the LEC during July
In July Igor C. Silva will be in residency at the Lab for Electroacoustic Creation (LEC) by Miso Music Portugal where he will be working on a new work for instruments, electronics and live video. The composer will be using the conditions offered by O'culto da Ajuda, working directly with the musicians and the technological means of the Miso Studio.
"O'culto da Ajuda will be the environment for the creation of this new work, enabling the access to a space and technological means permitting a constant research and experimentation during the creative process, thus contributing to a more pragmatic and intuitive approach within music creation", emphasises Igor C. Silva. This young composer from Porto graduated in Composition from Escola Superior de Música, Artes e Espetáculo (ESMAE - Porto) in 2011, and completed his Master's Degree in Composition and Music Theory in 2013, having worked with Fredrick Gifford, Fernando C. Lapa, Dimitris Andrikopoulos, Eugénio Amorim and Carlos Guedes. He also attended seminars with Magnus Lindberg, Jonathan Harvey, Pauline Oliveros, Kaija Saariaho, Wolfgang Mitterer, Betty Olivero, Marko Ciciliani, Pascal Dusapin, Bruce Pennycook, among others. Igor C. Silva also works regularly with soloists, ensembles and jazz groups, devoting part of his musical and composing activity to improvisation and interactive performances with electronics and multimedia tools, as a composer and performer. In May 2011 he was selected for the 1st International Forum for Young Composers by the Sond’Ar-te Electric Ensemble in Lisbon, with the work FlipBook, conducted by Pedro Neves. In 2012 Igor C. Silva was Young Composer in Residence at Casa da Música and received several commissions, having worked with Orchestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música, Remix Ensemble Casa da Música, among other groups.
